North East Mountaineering

Since 2004 North East Mountaineering (or NEMountain), has operated in both the North East of Scotland and across the country. Duncan Paterson has operated as an instructor and coach with the range and quality of services increasing every year. In 2014 the company became incorporated as North East Mountaineering Ltd. and is now working with Graeme Morrison of GM Mountaineering to enhance this further.

North East Mountaineering is involved with a several organisations as well as private clients. These range form large commercial organisations, local and national charities, sports centres, primary schools and academies. Our work sees us delivering services and activities to these organisations that range from charitable events, to climbing wall inspections.
Private clients utilise the professional team at North East Mountaineering for every aspect of climbing, walking and mountaineering.

We are committed to enhancing our delivery and experience through continual professional development (CPD) and have done so through being members of professional associations. These associations (such as the Association of Mountaineering Instructors) have a professional code of conduct that we adhere to.

Association of Mountaineering Instructors

The Association of Mountaineering Instructors is the representative body for professionally qualified Mountaineering Instructors in the UK and Ireland. AMI is committed to promoting good practice in all mountaineering instruction. As AMI members we adhere to a professional code of practice and undertake continuing professional development training (CPD).

Mountain Training UK

Mountain Training’s aim is to educate and train people in walking, climbing and mountaineering. They have developed a range of nationally-recognised mountain leadership, instruction and coaching awards, as well as skills courses. North East Mountaineering has pleasure of providing and working on such courses.

Mountain Training Association

The Mountain Training Association is a membership organisation for those candidates working through their Mountain Training Awards. The association offers a number of membership privileges, support and access to continual professional development opportunities.

Mountaineering Council of Scotland

The Mountaineering Council of Scotland is the only recognised representative organisation for hill walkers, climbers and ski-tourers who live in Scotland or who enjoy Scotland’s mountains. Duncan and Graeme are approved MCofS coaches and instructors not only delivering courses and volunteering but also providing Fundamentals of climbing courses.
