Learn to Climb Indoors

Looking to exercise, socialise or are you looking to go climbing outside?

Indoor climbing is easily accessible these days and offers a huge variety of climbing and health benefits.  The Learn to Climb indoors course is ideally suited to those who have never climbed before or are rusty after a number of years away from the sport.

Having been involved with the management, advice and training for climbing walls since 2005 not only does our Learn to Climb course offer a professional and fun approach to learning to climb and using indoor walls but also offers a broad variety of experiences with various venues.

Venues include: Transition Extreme, RGU Sport.

Course content

  • Bottom roping and seconding on some of the areas local climbing walls (dependant on course location),
  • Introduction of basic climbing techniques including belaying, tying in and movement on the wall,
  • Introduction of the equipment and processes involved in Climbing indoors,
  • Safety considerations for indoor climbing, bouldering and the use of climbing facilities,
  • Getting participants up to speed to climb unsupervised in climbing walls,
  • Lots of climbing!

Previous Experience required:

  • None


Equipment required:

  • Sport/active clothing,
  • Rock shoes if already owned (available to hire),
  • Harness, helmet, belay and krab if already owned,
  • Harness, helmet, belay and krab available as part of the course fee if you do not already have.

Course notes:

  • 4 hours of instruction split into two sessions of 2 hours,
  • These sessions can be on the same day or spread over two days/weeks,
  • Each course caters for up to six participants.
