Learn to Lead Climb Indoors

Moving on from bottom roping; the Learn to Lead climb indoors course offers lots of new opportunities for developing your climbing.  Learning to lead climb opens up many new routes at your local climbing venue and is often used as an intermediate step to beginning your Lead climbing career outdoors.

Having been involved with the management, advice and training for climbing walls since 2005 not only does our Learn to Lead Climb course offer a professional and fun approach to learning to climb and using indoor walls but also offers a broad variety of experiences with various venues.

Course content:

  • Recap of good practise with basic climbing techniques including belaying, tying in and movement on the wall,
  • Introduction of the equipment and processes involved in Lead climbing indoors,
  • Safety considerations for indoor lead climbing, and the use of climbing facilities,
  • Progression of climbing and belaying skills to enable you to continue in confidence.
  • Lots of climbing!

Previous experience:

  • Indoor climbing experience of bottom roping 6a.
  • (This allows the participant to comfortably ascend the wall whilst taking in the new techniques and challenges of lead climbing).

 

Equipment required:

  • Sport/active clothing,
  • Rock shoes if already owned (available to hire),
  • Harness, helmet, belay and krab if already owned,
  • Harness, helmet, belay and krab available as part of the course fee if you do not already have.

 

Course notes:

  • 4 hours of instruction split into two sessions of 2 hours,
  • These sessions can be on the same day or spread over two days/weeks,
  • Each course caters for up to four participants.
